OVERVIEW

My name is Lorance Smith. I’ve been playing music and learning about instruments and audio since I was 7 years old. After several years of working in music stores as a young adult, I began offering various freelance services to my local music community. Over time, what started as a fun tagline, “Hire Me to Fix your Guitar”, became my life’s work.

After founding O’Brian Guitarworks in 2021, I have since secured direct dealerships with top brands including Seymour Duncan, Jim Dunlop Products, and Hipshot. I have personally built a full-service guitar repair and modification shop that adheres to my standards and ensures a quality product. I have toured the United States with various artists at various levels in different disciplines. My experience has taught me that there is always something new to learn.

Interests Outside of Work

My passion for being a technician stems from a passion for music. I enjoy writing, producing, recording, and performing music as often as I can. I try to do these things regularly through various projects and collaborations with peers in all different parts of the music community around me. I love new experiences and getting fresh air, which music allows me to do the most. I enjoy good food, hiking nature trails, and getting out on the water. I’m always looking for good thrift stores or record shops to add to my collection of useful mementos. Exploring new places and seeing new things is one of the most important things to me, and I’m grateful I get to do that through music.
